Located in Watford, this unique new leisure destination was the vision of operator TopGolf. By using revolutionary technology, maxfli golf balls fitted with microchips, ’ID Balls’, TopGolf wanted to create a very different driving range.

SPACE & PLACE was asked to design the Clubhouse and co-ordinate the design of the course. The choice of materials was paramount as was the cutting edge appearance of the building which had to reflect the hi-tech nature of the TopGolf game.

By selecting a tensile roof structure with polycarbonate lenses, natural light is allowed into the building, creating an open, fresh, outdoor feel.

Inside the Clubhouse is a café/bar, a golfing retail outfit and a miniature pitch and putt course. The design of the driving bays was undertaken by S&P’s Interior Design team and involved a combination of physical and technical characteristics; such as golf swing ergonomics required for the tracker technology.

TopGolf has been hugely successful attracting daytime, weekend and corporate hospitality business.
