This project was undertaken by St Albans City and District Council to replace the outdated leisure centre and sports facilities in St Albans. The centre is situated within the Verulamium Park in St Albans with Grade 1 listed Abbey to the North.
SPACE & PLACE designed this new leisure facility that has become a hub destination in the parkland, with its’ integrated wet and dry sports facilities for public use.
Facilities include:
- 25m x 17m x 2m deep ten lane pool (50% moveable floor)
- 250 pool spectator seating
- 17m x 10M x 2m deep Learner pool
- Confidence Water (For 0 – 4 year olds)
- Pool viewing area
- Gym – 200 station
- Village style changing room with group change for school use
- Spinning studio
- Enhanced Café / Bistro (75 Seat Capacity)
- Youth gym
- Crèche + soft play with external area
- 2 exercise studios
- Male and Female gym change
- 4 court sports hall (33m x 18m)
- Male and Female sports hall dry change
- Climbing wall
- Enhanced spa facility including sauna, hot rooms, steam rooms (Rasul +Hammam), 4 treatment rooms and dedicated changing facilities
