Leyton Leisure Centre
October 2013
Within a tight budget the SPACE & PLACE project team took the existing Leyton Leisure Lagoon (rebranded as the ’Leyton Leisure Centre’) to create a new centre with facilities that match the demands of the centre’s users, in particular, the need for families and children.
The refurbishment works included:
- Upgrading the external façade with render and rainscreen cladding to lift the dated brickwork
- A new entrance canopy
- A new flume ride relocated from the front of the building to the back with its own dedicated Aquacatch
- Converting the existing leisure pool and redundant ’dangerous’ rapids into a 25 metre community pool and altering the depth
The project was successfully completed in October 2013, costing £3.5m
