Holmes Place, The Printworks

Part of Manchester’s urban entertainment centre, ’The Printworks’ is a 4,000m2 health club opened to provide an urban yet contemporary environment that was both inviting and intimate, with high quality natural finishes.
The design maximises the view from the 20m and the 8m stainless steel swimming pools into the public space of the triangle development. A flowing central walkway links the 975m2 gym and changing rooms to public spaces, such as the treatment studio and relaxation area. As it curves throughout the club, it is complimented by the freeform, changing volumes of the vaulted ceilings.
The three studios ranging from 230m2 to 140m2, allow Holmes Place to tailor their offer from high impact aerobics to yoga and Pilates within the holistic studio. The careful balance between stimulating design and flexible environmental control provides the catalyst for an escape from city life.
The health club at Printworks is just one of a number of health and fitness facilities SPACE & PLACE have undertaken throughout Europe on behalf of Holmes Place. While designed to ’Holmes Place Five Star Standard’ each maintains an original identity.
