Downham Market Pool
July 2002
In 2001 SPACE & PLACE developed a standardised swimming pool product (Swim 25) for roll out across the UK.
Downham Market swimming pool was the first standard pool to be completed in December 2002 as a replacement centre for a swimming facility located elsewhere in the town.
It was newly located on a school site, extending a local authority sports centre to provide new community and club facilities. The project was successfully funded by Sport England and Kings Lynn and West Norfolk Council.
The scheme was built to a high specification and a budget of £1.6 million which included: a 5-lane 25 m pool, changing village, social space, aerobics studio and connecting to the existing foyer, gym and sports hall within the local centre.
It was successfully delivered on budget and on time.
