Lakeland, Enniskillen, NI

Apr 2023

The new Lakeland Forum and Park aims to be a landmark provision for health and wellbeing, promoting community engagement and physical activity. The design principles guide towards a welcoming and open building, maximizing transparencies and indoor-outdoor connections. The design has a positive impact on the landscape and provides a sense of community and place. The proposed facility should widely embrace the river views and generate inside/ outside spaces to improve the connectivity to water. The new Lakeland Forum and Park should aim to be a true community asset with activities for all. Truly inclusive and intergenerational. This will be achieved by a well-connected range of opportunities for cultural, social and sports activities, combined with a well-designed play park and events strategy to truly create engagement with the community.

The building will also achieve Passivhaus certification, making it one of the very few centres in the world to meet this accreditation. It will ensure the highest standard in sustainability, low energy and visitor comfort.
