S&P created the masterplan for the City Centre Regeneration Area in Stoke on Trent, a vibrant new entertainment development in the heart of the Midlands. This scheme forms part of a wider economic regeneration and inward investment strategy encompassing entertainment spaces; cultural facilities; a hotel; residential and retail offerings, incorporating open air public spaces -adjacent to the new transport hub.
The design envisages a new central street, banked with a range of food and beverage outlets that will serve customers of the expanded existing entertainment facilities. A landscaped ‘street’ area also features an arena building for hosting concerts, conferences, banqueting and exhibitions. The gateway to the development, the arena occupies an elevated position which acts as a natural podium and creates a stunning landmark within the local streetscape. The arena auditorium will have a capacity of 3500 (2500 seated) and is designed flexibly so that it can be used for concerts, conference, banqueting and exhibition style events.
