Tadley Pool

February 1998

A result of a borough-wide feasibility study carried out for Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council some years earlier; the swimming pool at Tadley is set within a conservation area, and naturally the choice of Architectural form and external materials had to reflect this location.

Like many SPACE & PLACE designs, Tadley Pool benefits from large roof lights allowing good natural lighting into key areas of the building, whilst restricting direct glare, particularly in the pool environment.

The pool is a 6 lane 25m pool with a movable, floating floor for greater flexibility. The centre also boasts a separate sanctuary area, complete with spa, steam and sauna.

The building is a very economic design and the cost appraisal on the project was featured by cost consultants in the leading industry ‘Building’ magazine.
